Park Of Kings was on the premises in races of this quality and higher throughout the recent outgoing jumps season. Scored over two miles at Roscommon and Punchestown last autumn from ratings of 95 and 103. Ran third at Leopardstown from OR111 and was fifth of 22 behind Maxxum in Listed handicap hurdle in February off current mark of 114. Interestingly still fairly low in this handicap. Unlucky in last race. Just getting into proceedings when a horse fell right in front of him so excused that run. Returns within two weeks. JP McManus owned, progressive 6yo by Walk In The Park.

Brave Troop makes his second start on turf this season and looks likely to come on for the first promising outing when ninth of 21 over 6 furlongs at the Curragh. Wasn’t asked to do too much over that trip by Luke McAteer. Does show a liking for soft ground but this trip is more his thing. 3 wins from 14 starts on turf at between 7f and 10f. Unusual breeding by Aussie sprinter Pride of Dubai out of Kalanisi (staying) mare seems to have worked out well and Brave Troop is always of interest. Six length winner off OR70 at Gowran Park last season (runs off OR79 today). Has a touch of class.

Ran second of 23 at the Curragh on good ground (7 furlongs) for current apprentice jockey James Ryan back in August from official rating of 66. Winner over 7f at Gowran Park last July. High up in the handicap but runs off a mark of 62 today. Strong contender if ready to go on first start back on turf since December.

Winner of 4 of 11 races on Flat (turf ) for Ian Williams and has won his last two of four starts over hurdles since joining current trainer Jamie Snowden. Ready winner by five lengths at Haydock and a couple of lengths at Musselburgh at Class 2 level last time. Back in a Class 4 here, Golden Maverick looks NAP material.

I’ve been following Pickanumber this season. He’s won three of four outings over hurdles for Olly Murphy (SR 20%). Up 6lbs for latest win but still looks ahead of the handicapper. Dylan Johnston claims a useful 5lbs. He’s a decent sort, markedly up in grade here in a highly competitive renewal of the Class 1 Swinton Hurdle but he has a fast travelling speed, usually required for this, and sees out two miles really well. Could get involved.

Perhaps The Euphrates offers some value at odds of 7-1 given he finished ahead of much shorter priced Aidan O’Brien (SR 23%) stablemate Illinois in the Ballysax over ten furlongs last time. By Frankel so this longer trip could faze him but dam by Montjeu stayed the trip. Hard to judge the running of the Group 3 Ballysax (heavy ground and a 50-1 winner) but The Euphrates stayed on well at the close.

The ten year-old runs off a mark of 75 having won from ratings of 80 and 81 last season. Course and distance win in 2022 achieved ‘comfortably’ by two lengths off a mark of 97 and out of stall 3. 12-1 looks a value price for Tim Easterby trained ten year-old whose form shows no real sign of deterioration with age.

Mark Fahey trained Rhythm King has won three of sixteen starts which isn’t a bad percentage. Has performed best on soft or heavy ground and twice won at the seven furlongs trip. Well backed but two very poor runs back on turf this season. Carries ten stone here, not far off the official top-rated, and dropped three pounds now just two pounds above last winning mark. Excellent 5lbs claimer Hugh Horgan booked for the ride. Must return to form but big price for quite a smart sort.

Last year’s winner Conversant runs off 3lbs lower this around. Colin Keane is booked. Has been running over further recently and should be happier for this drop back in distance. Decent enough draw in stall 8 and with a top pilot up might be the answer to this 14 runner handicap. Having won 6 times in 46 starts on turf, the 9yo by Zebedee is certainly a major player.

At 5-1 Silver Lady looks a good play. She showed some improvement on previous form when winning at Group 2 level at Meydan back in January over 1 mile. By Sea The Stars she has only had five starts winning on debut in April last year at Newmarket (1 mile). Disappointed a little when sent off favourite for a Listed contest here in September. Four years old now and improvement with age not unusual with this pedigree. William Buick (SR 24%) rides for Charlie Appleby (SR 26%) and Godolphin.

Perhaps not the most competitive of Palace House Stakes (Group 3). A few in with chances but Mitbaahy looks the most sensible option. Having joined Charlie Hills from Roger Varian’s yard the 5yo by Group 1 winning sprinter Profitable ran a strong race when fourth in the Abernant Stakes over six furlongs here on return. Missed the break slightly and probably is better than that effort. Five furlongs is traditionally Mitbaahy’s trip. Former winner at Group 3 level. Five wins from 18 career starts. Officially the top-rated by three pounds.

Second in this race two years ago and sixteen lengths winner here last year. Thorough stayer. David Kemp’s is a top yard for these hunter chases. Comes here in usual strong form with two recent wins. Master Templar rates a danger but Law Of Gold looks a pretty solid pick and the 11yo may represent good value at odds of 2-1.

Billaway was only a neck behind Its On The Line when they met at Naas in February. Ran well when twelve lengths fifth in the Hunters Chase at Cheltenham and, unlike the favourite, has been rested since then. 12 years old but a decent sort on his day. Followed up a win at Cheltenham in 2022 with a win in this race. Winner at Downpatrick in May last year. Runs for trainer Willie Mullins (SR 16%) and skilled jockey Patrick Mullins (SR 22%). 9 wins from 25 chase starts. Contender.

Battle It Out runs in the colours of JP McManus for the O’Dwyer family. Strong winner by 13 lengths over this trip at Naas on penultimate start. Fourth in a Listed contest at Navan over further since then but dropped back in trip today. Carries a fairly low weight of 10-04 while Charlie O’Dwyer takes an extra five pounds off. Could surprise at a nice price.

Shamardal colt Bold Style is taken to score for Charlie Appleby (SR 44%) and William Buick (SR 23%) at Headquarters. Only a neck behind the odds-on Boiling Point last time having run keen and apart from the main group over course and distance 17 days ago. Can build on that. Just fourth run under rules now. Comfortable winner on second start in December, he looks a decent colt.

Lethal Levi runs off a relatively low weight, in receipt of 13 pounds from market favourite Noble Dynasty. Failed to win last season despite a string of solid efforts. Good effort when fourth of 17 on final start at Ascot over seven furlongs. Clifford Lee (SR 30%) rides for trainer Karl Burke (SR 25%).
