Second Fiddle a 5yo mare trained by C P Donoghue is an unlikely choice as there are negatives - a maiden after 9 starts and trainer hasn't had a winner in five years and jockey Declan McDonogh is 0-26 wins in recent weeks however every cloud has a silver lining - she is unexposed and runs off a career low handicap mark of 48 - posted a career high RPR of 60 over 5f at Navan four starts back Towards rear of midfield, headway waiting for room and switched right over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong, not reach leaders so todays 7f on good ground could suit as not encountered before - finished 3/4l ahead of todays rival Gosford (gave 3lb) 6-1 today and Second Fiddle receives 9lb today - another positive is jockey Declan McDonogh rides this track well 11-40 wins in recent years and 6-16 on 4yo+ - definitely speculative but one im invested in at 40-1

This race wont take a lot of winning with last two years winners posting a RPR of 101 and going to chance Mrs John Harrington's Endless Pursuit on second start after UR on debut - she is a full sister to Mrs John Harrington's Ever Present who was 3/6 wins on the flat RPR 112 so was a class act and won on bumper debut at 25-1 posting a RPR of 119 so there is cause for optimism for Endless Pursuit - another reason to be optimistic is Mrs John Harrington had three winners yesterday 11-4 16-1 20-1 so her Endless Pursuit in my mind deserves serious consideration

Yulong Voice a 7yo gelding trained by Shane Nolan hasn't stood much racing since winning at Limerick six starts back off 98 with Shane Fitzgerald (today's jockey) taking off 3lb beating The Big Chap (103 won four times since now rated 136) in July 22 - doesn't come here in great form but looks well handicapped on 94 and is a two time winner on today's good ground - the fact that Nolan has persevered suggest he thinks another race is to be won and the booking of Shane Fitzgerald looks significant given he won on him at Limerick - any market interest would bode well as he was heavily supported at Limerick

Dee Star a 11yo gelding trained by Gary Hanmer is 5/34 wins chasing (also won a PTP) and last win come off 109 last May trotting up by 12l under Sean Bowen posting a RPR of 116 in a class 3 (class 4 today) - runs today off 103 with Mr Murray Dodd 7lb claim so clearly well handicapped - he's a jockey brimming with confidence having won on 4 of his last 6 rides 100-30 66-1 11-1 and 10-1 so I'm not afraid to take the 33-1 about Dee Star who looks well treated and loves good ground having won in such conditions four times (including a PTP) - downside he is a bit of a Cartmel specialist but has won at Carlisle

Torivega is a lightly raced and highly tried (has run in group races behind the likes of The Antarctic) 4yo trained by Ms Sheila Lavery currently rated 95 returns from a 251 day absence after a gelding operation and is upped to 7f for the first time which should suit - out of a dam Viztoria (IRE) (owned by Lavery family) 5/12 wins RPR of 114 ( won on debut and four other eins come after 50+ day breaks so went well fresh) won a group 3 at the Curragh and a group 2 at Doncaster both coming over todays 7f and Torivega could prove to be a lively outsider at 33-1

All previous winners of this race entered with racecourse experience all having run once and placed and run at Beverley (2) Newbury (2) and Newmarket (1) and Rashabar a colt trained by Brian Meehan fits the bill - a good 3/8 at Newbury on debut beaten 2.25l under todays jockey Tom Marquand and the 2/8 Star Anthem and 4/8 Running Queen have both won since which bodes well for Rashabars chances and as such is my short priced banker of the day

James Owen trains Forget The Way and he is an excellent dual purpose trainer and is 52 wins from 252 runners and has a 23.9% win strike rate in hurdle races and Forget The Way makes debut for the stable and Owens is 12/47 wins with first time stable switchers - Forget The Way last won off 105 on today's good ground under Tom Cannon and runs today off 101 with Mr Alex Chadwick taking off 7lb so looks well handicapped and conditions are suitable - Mr Alex Chadwick is also 11/46 win for James Owens so it looks like they mean business today
