My first inclination was to back Ravenglass who rewarded my each way support when finishing second to the re-opposing Havana Goldrush over today's course and distance nine days ago. However riding arrangements suggest that Blue Hero might be the better fancied of the two Adrian Wintle runners. I might have it all wrong but Finley Marsh's mount loves it here, having won seven races at Bath including two at today's trip, and although he has a lengthy absence to overcome there's no doubting he is well in on his best form.

Neither am I overly concerned by his lack of a recent outing as he has gone well fresh in the past. He'll need a career best off his current mark but the stable is flying having had four winners from its last five runners, so he's worth risking at attractive double figure odds.

I like Hollie Doyle and think she's one of the better jockeys plying their trade in the UK, but I was far from enamoured with the ride she gave So Chic at Lingfield last time, held up way off the pace and giving up a lot of ground coming wide into the straight. I admit I may be talking through my pocket and Hollie did say the filly ran in snatches, so I'm prepared to give So Chic another chance and hope she performs better for Rob Hornby.

Trainer Nick Alexander is no mug and when one of his inmates comes in for support it's time to sit up and take notice. It's not as thought Travail D'Orfevre has been hiding his light under a bush either as he has been remarkably consistent since scoring at Carlisle in October, making the frame in each of five races. Despite this he runs off a mark only three pounds higher than Carlisle, and he looks one to keep on side as the money is down.

Better ground and a drop back to three miles will suit the gelding, who was staying on strongly when successful over shorter at Wetherby in January. Richard Fahey's string looks about to hit top form judged on results over the last five days, and My Little Queens looks ready to strike returning to turf. Although she has won once on the all weather, her record on grass suggests she prefers a natural surface on which to race. Four runs on tapeta this year have seen her mark drop eight pounds, and the mare races off a five pounds lower mark today than for her last win at Hamilton in May last year. My main concern would be today's twelve furlongs trip but she has been a strong finisher over ten furlongs.

The handicapper started to relinquish the tight grip he had on Casanova in the latter half of last year, and he confirmed that he is now on a favourable mark when finishing fourth in the Irish Lincoln last month. I would expect some improvement on that effort coming as it did following a lengthy absence, and in my opinion the gelding's double figure odds represent the day's best value.

The consistent Donny Boy looks overpriced and should be backed. There was little wrong with his third place finish at Wetherby last month yet the handicapper has eased him a couple of pounds. He'll have no ground concerns and while its a competitive race as befits the prize money on offer, he looks a cracking each way bet.
