APPRENTICE price has me scathing my head a little, won a 0-65 over 1mile 1f in tipp last April on yielding ground , that was off 61, she’s back down to 62 today, she's drawn low which is crucial here as the bend for home can stretch them out, she’s only 4 so there’s probably more to come , mark cahils stable is in good form, 2 of his last 3 have placed at prices, I do have reservations ,the trip possibly , but I’ll take a flyer at 66/1 paying 6 places(in places)

I backed this lad LTO and while they punted the ears off him (12/1-5/1)he ran like one that has gone sour, there was no steward report as to what went wrong , I’ll find forgiveness and go again , that was too bad to be true, he never went a yard, on the we positive side , he’s a mudlark , totally ground dependent, winner at the trip and on a workable mark....

It’s a risky proposition but ONTHEROPES is unraced passed 3 mile 2, and his career best is in the munster national over 3 miles (soft) this 10 year old hasn’t much miles on the clock , it looks like they’ve bided there time with him ,the handicaper has played his part too I noticed ,down to last winning mark , I doubt they’ll be over hard on him as he’s clearly coming back after an injury of some sort , but looking back you can see this fella had serious ability and if he gets around (he did LTO) he might make a mockery of that 66/1 - 7 places with skyBet ..

I'll take a flyer on HEAVENLY BEING in this 5 furlong dash, Jessica Harrington's charge was a wide margin winner of a 5 furlong event on soft last October, season opener was over 7 we'll draw a line through that, back to 5 today you'd imagine would be more favourable.. it's a hot heat, and you'd easily a make a case for all of them, so double digits is fair...

I think a chance can be taken with Jessica Harringtons JEKIKI on her 1st handicap start, gets in here at 102 , might be a lenient mark to begin with , I like the booking of Kennedy , she could have opted for a good claimer given the 12 stone burden, Kennedy won’t be putting too many to sleep given he’s fighting for the jockey title , this mare is almost certain to improve now handicapping ..5 places on offer and I expect a decent show ..

Should BENKI be 66/1?? I’m going to take a bit of a flyer on a rag here on nothing more than a hunch, andrew mc namara has one here, CIANTOV , at the bottom of the handicap, and There’s plenty of upside to taking a chance, upping to a mile for the 1st time, they’ve added the headgear, she’s had 2 recent runs and the all important low draw all contribute to potential improvement.. if she’s to win this is her grade (0-65) .. some firms have shortened her from 33 to 25.. I’ll take a small flyer that won’t trouble any trader ..

I missed the 50/1 on fourleafshamrock so I’ll leave it alone , I backed BEEVERSTOWN HOUSE last time out in limerick and never jumped a twig, plus he drifted alarmingly, I’m prepared to put a line through that and forgive him , he was placed in clonmel twice either side of Xmas on heavy going and todays extra 3 furlongs might not inconvenience him.. its a weak 0-95 and a chance can be taken with 5 places on offer.

CAMINO MISSION, I put this lad straight into the tracker after his last run, quiet eye catching I thought, came with what looked a very threatening run but make a bad mistake at the 2nd last and never recovered, after being out the back all the way, a more positive ride can see this lad featured and improve on that run.. my only concern is the trip, it’s possible he wants further , I'll chance a small ew play..

It’s risky but John mc connells GATSBY CUP might be worth chancing again, ok we have to forgive his last run and account for the fact the handicaper has caught up a bit, but He’s a 3 x times C/D winner, so we know this is the trip, still 1lb below his highest winning mark, albeit that was a few years ago , the 7lb pull from young fahy will help, he’s drawn 1 , that’ll help and with 2 wins already this year he’s in a rich vein of form. In a weak division he might have a squeak.

Can DOL KIER win this?? Maybe not, can he stay on past beaten horses to nab a place(6places) in the bog at 80/1 ?? Definitely!! We know this Mudlark lacks a final gear but we do know he’ll get the trip , absolutely relish the heavy going , they’ll swim home , only 6 finished in this last year, and it’ll probably take some getting this year too, this race has thrown up some rags in the past , 150/1 winner 2 years back, I probably wasn’t going to get involved at the initial 33/1 ish but at 80/1 I’m here to nab a place at a huge price ...

OSCARS BROTHER was an impressive winner of his maiden in limerick recently on heavy going , beat a 120 (Elliot’s) 13 lengths ,prior to that was 2nd to largy hill who went on to win a grade 3 novice event for willie Mullins . this lad is open to much more progress and improvement and certainly entitled to take his chance.. anything double digits with 4 places appeals to me ..

Willie saddling 10 of the 18 here, they’ll all want Townend, the one I like is CUTA DES AS, this mares profile is likeable, won her maiden hurdle comfortably last month , relished the going and jumped well .. willie had said he’ll keep her going until it dries out so I’ll take a chance , they haven’t rushed her and she looks progressive.. claims.

I think MYMOMENTINTIME might have an ew squeak in this , I’m looking for spots of form with runners who have anything to offer over 5 furlongs on heavy in this Susan Finns lad has though ,albeit at a lower level than this, I'd much prefer if this was a 0-75 , the draw bias in cork over 5 and 6 is advantage high , were drawn in 11 , has won on heavy and although is out of the handicap I'll chance a tentative ew at 25s
